“Black Iris Hotel is another classy place with very reasonable prices. It also comes warmly recommended by readers. The stylish rooms, some overlooking a pleasant garden, have spotless bedrooms and some are very spacious. They serve good breakfasts. It’s easy to spot from Al-Mouhafada Circle."

“As a kitchen chef I couldn’t have chosen better place to stay in Madaba. And, as a matter of fact, in Jordan. If not enough the friendly atmosphere and the cleanliness of the house, the delicious meals prepared by Mrs. Asma are awesome. And I still could learn some of her cooking secrets. Congratulations Black Iris Family!”

"We planned on staying in Madaba only for 2 days and stayed for the remaining 4 days of our trip thanks to Odeh and his family's amazing hospitality. Madaba is a perfect place to plan day trips to the Dead Sea, Dana Nature reserve and Wadi Mujib. The best place to stay by far in all of Jordan is The Black Iris Hotel. All of the people at Black Iris are friendly caring people and it's guaranteed that you'll make new friends there. My wife and I will be forever grateful to Odeh and his family."

“ I had a marvelous time during my trip in Jordan. I visited many cities and it was not easy to find a nice and clean place to stay with a reasonable price. But I found Black Iris hotel in Madaba exceptional. The people are very friendly and helpful. The hotel provided a wonderful and very high standard service during my stay. With the home cooking that they served, I feel like I am home.”

“I returned to the Black Iris after 5 years, my first stay was in 1999!! This time, the hotel was bigger, even friendlier, the price still excellent, the owners, Salem and Esma just a wonderful couple, the breakfast buffet is the best in Jordan. I just hope I NEVER EVER need another hotel in Jordan... “

"I had been looking for a less expensive travel option in Jordan other than staying in Amman where the prices are generally higher and more in line with a major city. I travel through Jordan on my way to home for a night or two and found the Black Iris Hotel in various travel websites and gave it a try. Needless to say it is a great option for someone who is looking for a clean, friendly and very affordable option. I sent an email to the hotel website and received a prompt reply from Odeh who is the son of the owners. He booked my room and arranged to have a taxi pick me up at the aiport. Upon arrival at the hotel, I made arrangements through Odeh to hire a taxi to go to Mt. Nebo and then do some holiday shopping before heading home for the holidays. The same taxi driver picked me at 6am the next morning and took me to the airport. Great experience and once again a great value.
I stayed in a single room on the ground floor. It was clean and comfortable with a private bathroom and shower. I have not had a meal at the hotel, but reports are quite positive.
Enjoy this little gem in the friendly country of Jordan and go home knowing you have a great room at a great value waiting for you."

I absolutely loved staying at Black Iris. Altough I arrived in the evening without booking, the lovely family running the hotel found me a room (it was high season!). I had planned to stay 2/3 nights... finally I stayed 5 nights. I felt at home. The hotel and the room are SUPER CLEAN and I always could seat in the hall chatting with Odeh, the owners' son. I'm a girl travelling on my own and I highly recommend this place for lonely travellers. The location is very convenient and peaceful cause the hotel is in an alley and travellers in middle/south east/ asia know pretty well how much important is quiet and silence once back to the hotel. I really enjoyed Black Iris. I have a great memory of the place and the family.

"Black Iris Hotel gives you great value. It's central location is excellent. The rooms are basic but they come with spotless bathrooms. The owners are extremely hospitable. The owner's son, Odeh Sawahala, didn't just help advise and arrange sightseeing trips to Jerash, Dead Sea, crusader castles etc, he even personally ran out to a shop in a neighbouring street to get me Supa Glue since my shoe's sole had come unstuck! I have seldom come across such hospitality.
Black Iris Hotel is worth every cent you pay."
